Our client, a Commerce, California based Manufacturer and Distributor of consumer-packaged goods and personal care products has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager! The ideal candidate must have excellent leadership skills to motivate and energize a team of Buyers and build outstanding vendor relationships to obtain the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Prior management experience required.
Summary of duties:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the direction of the materials management and purchasing function to achieve service and inventory goals as well as the development of best-in-class processes to drive service level improvement. You will work across functional and geographic boundaries to ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction relative to inventory service levels and management and communication of inventory failures.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Buyers who source, select suppliers, purchase of parts, raw materials, and subcontracted services at the most cost-effective price, ensuring the meeting of quality standards and delivery requirements, purchase commodity products, chemicals and supplies. Position requires the ability to motivate and lead a team that must obtain the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Involvement in identification of manufacturing needs, suppliers’ selection, contract negotiation, and delivery arrangement.
Qualifications:

A. or B.S. Degree required with relevant (operations, business) field of study preferred.

5 or more years of relevant materials management & purchasing experience preferably in B-to-B distribution required and specific experience in process improvement.

Solid and strong leadership traits required.

Experience working globally preferred.

Strong working knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting techniques as well as operational systems and warehouse management.

Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.

Excellent MS Office capabilities required.

Strong written communication and presentation skills required.

Knowledge and experience in a sourcing and procurement capacity in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of executing and evaluation of MRP runs and calculations.

Must have strong interpersonal, relationship building, and negotiation skills.

Skilled at working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting and must be able to multi-task.

Fast learner, analytical, exceptional math skills, and good problem-solver.

Strong Microsoft office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT.
