Financial Controller: (Reporting directly to CEO) 

Position Overview: 

The role will initially be responsible for all aspects of the company’s day-to-day financial activities including preparation of budgets/forecasts/month end reporting, billing, cashflow, tax compliance, balance sheet reconciliations, and audits. 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop with the business and shape the future direction of the company’s financial processes and procedures, evaluate and strengthen existing internal controls and create new controls where necessary. 

The Financial Controller must have an entrepreneurial mentality as the role will be very hands-on and must be a visible leader, eager to dive into operational details yet have the strategic ability to communicate high-level projections and budgeting. Driving efficiency and profitability across all branches is a top priority. Working alongside the CEO with the ability to work independently in a small fast paced start up type environment. 

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller: 

  • Managing, building, developing, training and mentoring the accounting team. 

  • Leading the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for all branches nationwide. 

  • Timely production of monthly financial output and reporting providing commentary on actual vs budget performance as required. 

  • Preparing various monthly reports, sales, costing, cash flow, analyze and monitor balance sheet and income statements accounts. 

  • Responsible for all aspects of yearly, quarterly and month end close activities. 

  • Managing all accounting operations including Payroll, Payroll Funding, Billing, AP, AR, general ledger, revenue recognition, etc. 

  • Working effectively with Leadership to support decision making, ensure robust financial control, commercial terms, and process. 

  • Nurturing relationships with key internal and external vendors and parties including funding company and banks. 

  • Key contact for auditors. Responsible for managing half year, interim and year-end audit process. 

  • Supporting in terms of process, financial control environment and balance sheet quality. 

  • Ensuring key underlying process functions efficiently and effectively – e.g., pricing, sales order process, billing and credit control. 

  • Managing local regulatory and tax reporting/compliance for branches nationwide. 

  • Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. 

  • Continual review and improvement of finance and non-finance business processes and systems. 

  • Other ad hoc activity to meet the needs of the company as required. 

Qualifications for the Financial Controller: 

  • Ability to work with high volumes of data. 

  • Ability to work on own as an Independent contributor. 

  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. 

  • Supervisory or management experience needed (5+ years) 

  • Experience of M&A or rapid growth start-up. 

  • General ledger, month end close/year end close experience. 

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance processes. 

  • Candidate must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Ability to work in a team setting and interact/communicate effectively to leadership. 

  • Strong communication skills. 

  • Microsoft Office Advanced Proficiency in Excel. 

  • Past experience with researching, preparing and executing initiatives such as software and systems implementation preferred. 

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration/Accounting OR Finance preferred. 

(Salary Range: $95k-$130k)
