Transportation Dispatcher

Logistics company located in West Oakland is looking for Dispatcher. Monday to Friday  Schedule 8 am – 5 pm. ON SITE!

Objective: Represent Company in a professional manner to our customers, vendors and general public completing and coordinate all office functions in regards to dispatching, daily workflow and quality of work with the operations department.



  • Responsible for the daily dispatch of Owner Operators/drivers
  • Ensure that all drivers meet the standards set forth by Corporate office in regards to insurance, licenses, medical info, and all other required documentation
  • Be courteous, and respectful to all drivers, customers, and staff
  • Call drivers throughout the day checking status
  • Responsible to set up following days dispatches before going home for the day
  • Maintain organized drivers’ files.
  • Responsible for control of all accessorial charges, and the contacting of CSR’s. Must then record that info into Daily Logs Sheets to ensure that billing of accessorial charges is complete, and correct
  • Reconciliation of yard checks to ensure that containers do not go on per diem
  • Report all equipment damage to Supervisor immediately
  • Assisting customers with their questions, issues, and concerns
  • Assist Operations Manager in the day to day management of dispatch operations, as instructed
  • Ensure all drivers are turning in paperwork in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all loads are picked up before last free day to avoid demurrage, and that all export loads are turned in before vessel cutoff. Does not incur per diems or additional costs
  • Driver settlements, preparing, auditing and approving weekly settlements
  • Planning the workload based on cutoffs, free time to avoid per diems. Coordinating and scheduling
  • Ensure that all driver paperwork, terminal interchange has been completed and filed for storage
  • Work with CSR to ensure that all export containers are pulled from terminal and available
  • Ensure that all cutoff bookings are returned to terminal in a timely manner
  • Communicate all problems and issues to immediate supervisor
  • Review driver’s logbooks and day sheets to verify moves
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Ability to maintain multiple tasks in an organized manner
  • Must be able to communicate both written and verbally in the English language
  • Must be able to perform basic math skills
  • Basic experience with use of MS Word & Excel. Minimum computer/typing skills required
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • DOT trucking regulations and requirements, including as applied to independent contractor vendors
  • Terminal processes and requirements
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies




High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Transportation background is preferred.
